Peanut butter is a staple in our house but looking at the branded label jar in my pantry is frightening. There’s 8 different ingredients on there, and most of them are not something I want to be using if I’m trying to implement a healthier lifestyle for my family. In my honest opinion if you can’t pronounce them you definitely should be eating them.
Compare instead a homemade version that has 4 single source ingredients. What do I mean by single source? Nothing processes or full of additives, straight as it should be…peanuts, honey, salt and peanut oil (which you have hopefully purchased from a wholefoods store).
It’s not hard to whip up a batch and keep it on hand in fact in our house we often have to double our recipe.
Below is a great easy to follow video on how to make peanut butter.
Here’s what you’ll need
– 2 cups roasted Valencia peanuts (organic)
– 1 T honey
– 1-3 tsp peanut oil
– pinch of salt
(occasionally to change things up for the season we will add a dash of cinnamon, cocoa or pumpkin spice)
